Smart+ Traffic Light
The new generation of AI red light enforcement cameras
- Applications: Red Light Enforcement
Smart+ Traffic Light has been designed for enforcement applications involving red light violations. The device is capable of identifying the status of red lights through image analysis and, thanks to the secure-by-design software Stark, the system can also recognize illegal turns and stops and track the vehicle.
Smart+ Traffic Light is equipped with a new high-quality sensor (8Mpx on the OCR channel), providing better image quality. The system can manage different kinds of traffic installations, such as one or two lanes, with one or two traffic light, without the need for external sensors, thus reducing installation and maintenance costs.
All transit plates are recorded and available for:
- Red light enforcement
- Tax and insurance control
- Vehicle tracking
- Traffic monitoring

Smart+ Traffic Light is used to analyze vehicle behavior within the field of view, providing valuable data for various applications. The system can recognize illegal turns and stops, track the vehicle and read its license plate as it enters or transits through a pre-configured region of interest (ROI).
Smart+ Traffic Light is equipped with a new high-quality sensor (8Mpx on the OCR channel) that provides better image quality and covers up to 2 lanes. Compatible with Stark, the new secure-by-design software architecture, it offers a fully configurable, modular platform with a multilingual and super user-friendly web interface. The system can detect right turns and exclude turning vehicles from the violation area.
Thanks to the employment of artificial intelligence, it automatically detects the light status of a traffic signal using camera-based image analysis without the need for external triggers, minimizing installation and maintenance costs. When a vehicle crosses the stop line, causing a violation, the intelligent camera captures an image of the license plate, which is read by the embedded OCR engine. Additionally, a series of monochrome OCR and color context images are taken to show the vehicle approaching the traffic light and crossing the stop line on a red signal, along with a video showing the violation.
The entire report containing all violation evidence, including a full set of images, the video, the date and time and the duration of the red phase at the time of the violation, is generated within the Tattile system and ready to be stored or shared with traffic authorities. No additional software or external server processing power is required, making the system extremely cost-efficient. Tattile Smart+ Traffic Light manages various traffic installations, from one to two lanes and from one traffic light per lane to one traffic light every two lanes.
The camera can detect vehicles traveling up to 320 km/h (198 mph) with a detection accuracy level of 99%. It employs the BCCM algorithm available on-board and captures detailed vehicle information, including the license plate, brand, class, color, and model, to create a comprehensive vehicle fingerprint in a single report. All vehicle data is provided in a fully customizable message format and protocol.
The camera has evolved from a pure ANPR (ALPR) camera to a A.I.-powered vehicle identification system, identifying all passing vehicles for traffic monitoring and vehicle tracking even while the red light violation mode is active.
Easy to install and a stand-alone solution that requires no additional processing power, the new Tattile system represents a new dimension of cost-effectiveness in the ANPR sector.
