Tattile’s LPR camera in Serbia: Basic MK2

Over the last few years, Eastern European road systems have been turning towards more advanced technological assets, and Serbia is one of them. By choosing Tattile, Serbia chose to significantly improve traffic management, thanks to the use of an LPR camera such as Basic MK2 in a stop-and-go setting.

The project: stop-and-go tolling

As part of its broader efforts to modernize traffic management and improve the efficiency of road networks, the Public Enterprise Roads of Serbia has recently implemented stop-and-go tolling systems across key highway routes.

The requirement was to work on a total of approximately 140 kilometers of toll roads in Serbia: in particular, Tattile took care of the Moravski Koridor & Ruma-Šabac Highway. Along these sections of highway, Tattile’s cameras cover 50 entry lanes and 54 exit lanes with 12 toll plazas.

Stop-and-go tolling is a system in which vehicles are charged a toll based on the distance they travel on a road: vehicles stop at a toll booth and pay the toll before proceeding on their journey. This is done by using a combination of cameras and electronic sensors to track vehicles as they enter and exit the tolled area. The system calculates the distance travelled and charges the vehicle’s account accordingly. Depending on the specific implementation, the toll can be paid using a prepaid account, a credit card, or license plate recognition.

Using an LPR camera allows for controlled vehicle flow while maintaining accurate toll collection. With growing transportation demands and the need to enhance both safety and mobility, intelligent tolling solutions have become a strategic priority in the country’s infrastructure development plans.

Tattile’s cameras provide a complete solution for safety and control of the tollbooth. Firmly embedded technology guarantees an automated and easy-to-use monitoring system.

Tattile’s Basic MK2 is the answer

Compact and innovative, this LPR camera is functional and design-oriented and it is primarily intended for stop-and-go tolling, parking and access control systems. It works with a distance of up to 25 meters (83 feet) and it can be used in different applications with different installation layouts. In this Serbian project, over 100 deployed cameras were easily adapted to the existing system.

Extremely compact to reduce installation impact, it is extremely lightweight, weighing only 1.5 kg (3,3 lbs), and it can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C (from -40°F to +140°F).

Basic MK2 is also equipped with an innovative A.I. vehicle and license plate detector, enabling comprehensive traffic and access control. The neural network algorithms in the LPR camera guarantee high performance, with a detection rate of up to 99% and a recognition rate of up to 98%. It is compatible with Stark, the software designed and developed by Tattile.

Basic MK2 works even in the event of a data connection failure because it automatically buffers the images in the local memory. Once the network is restored, the stored images are automatically sent from the camera, avoiding loss of transits.

This camera is a ready-to-use solution that requires no external devices or triggers: the internal object detector automatically detects the presence of a vehicle and a license plate.

Tattile’s cameras can help save time, automate processes and minimize human effort.
