Tattile announces the acquisition of Comark

Mairano – Italy July 16th, 2024

Tattile, a leading international player in the License Plate Reading and Axle Counting domain, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Comark, a company with solid growth over the last ten years, specialized in laser-based volumetric vehicle measurement and classification for tolling and free-flow tolling applications. With this acquisition, Tattile can further drive the optimization of traffic flows through innovative and AI-driven products, with new high-performance and high-added value solutions.

Comark is a dynamic Italian company based in Udine, Italy. With 30% of the team working in the R&D department, it has a strong international footprint, with 60% of the revenues in Europe (including Italy), 15% in APAC, and 25% in South America.

Traffic optimization is a significant ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) industry trend. Thanks to a quicker tolling process on highways and other payment roads, it increases traffic efficiency and reduces pollution. Optimizing traffic flows on highways involves implementing a fully automated tolling process. This process begins with reading the vehicle’s license plate, then accurately counting the vehicle’s total number of axles, and finally capturing the vehicle’s volume. These three pieces of information are crucial in determining the vehicle class and then, the total toll amount.

Mr. Federico Vincenzi, founder and owner of Comark, said, “We are motivated to be part of Tattile and TKH Group as we see it as a unique opportunity to ensure Comark’s solid growth in the international markets and a very innovative joint product development, finalized to exploit the best of both companies’ core competencies.”

Mr. Corrado Franchi, CEO of Tattile, added: “The strong similarity in the founding values of both organizations, the same service orientation, and an almost overlapped customer portfolio, make the integration a natural step towards the generation of new high-performance and high-added value systems, based on the unlimited opportunities generated by AI.”
